Stephen Hopkins (*3rd Great-grandfather, Hopkins)
130 Years Ago: Stephen Hopkins applied for a marriage bond on 1 November 1890 in Harlan County, Kentucky, showing his intent to marry Barbary Saylor. The marriage certificate section of the form is blank, so the date of the ceremony is unknown, but it apparently happened. Five months later, on 13 April 1891, S. W. Saylor, executor of Stephen’s estate, mentioned “Barbry Hopkins, widow of the deceased.”
This was Stephen’s second marriage. His first wife, Rachel McFarland, died sometime between 1870 and 1880.
