Will’s funeral was held on 21 July at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Greenville, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, where he’d been a member for many years. Will was my paternal grandfather. I was seven years old when he died, and his funeral was the first one I attended. I have vague memories of sitting in the back of the church with my maternal grandmother, aunt, and my siblings.
