Susan Taylor died on 3 July 1879 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, a month before her second birthday. Susie was the 10th of James Francis Taylor and Margaret E. Ramsey’s eleven children. She was born on 6 August 1877 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky.
Susie should have been listed in the 1880 U.S. Census Mortality Schedule based on that death date, which was given by her Aunt Emma Ewers Taylor Hopkins. But she is not there. Another Susan Taylor from a different household is listed in the Mortality Schedule but she was sixty-eight years old and from Virginia.
Susie was likely buried on the family farm in what is now known as the Ramsey-Taylor Cemetery, but no marker survives. If that is true, she was probably the first person buried there.
