David Alexander Bennett, son of Lewis H. Bennett and Teresa, died on 21 January 1901 in Chickasaw Nation Indian Territory in the area that became Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, six years later. He was buried in North Hickory Cemetery in the town of Ada.
David and most of his family and two of his nephews left Randolph County, Alabama, between 1883 and 1885. They initially went to Texas, living in Bell County when sons Robert Houston and Joseph Dennis were born in 1885 and 1887 and then Jones County where son Edgar Moran was born in 1890. From Texas, David and some of the family moved to Indian Territory before 1900. Others remained in Texas.
