Feature: Job Weeks

179 Years Ago: Job Weeks died 15 January 1841 in Pope County, Illinois.1 Job was born 8 May 1755 in Gloucester County, New Jersey, and served in the Revolutionary War from there.2

Job moved to Salem County, New Jersey years after the war and then on to Ohio County, Virginia, where he lived in 1810.3 He lived in Warren County, Ohio and Falls of the Ohio, Clark County, Indiana, before settling in the Livingston County, Kentucky and Pope County, Illinois area.4 Those counties are across the Ohio River from each other and Job lived in both places.

He lived in Pope County in Feb 1821 when his son James and daughter-in-law Delinda Younger Weeks named him to go to Pennsylvania to settle Delinda’s part in her father’s estate.5 He lived in Livingston County from 1836–1839 when various documents related to his Revolutionary War pension application were filed.6 He was back in Pople County when he died.7 (*5th Great-grandfather, Hankins)

160 Years Ago: William Columbus Hopkins was born 13 January 1860. He was the son of Eliza Hopkins. (*2nd Great-uncle, Hopkins)

January 15

28 Years Ago: John William McCauley, Jr. died 15 January 1992 in Madisonville, Hopkins County, Kentucky. He was buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Greenville, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. John was the son of John William McCauley and Verda Waller Hankins. (*Uncle, McCauley)

128 Years Ago: James Thomas Taylor was born 15 January 1892 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. He died the day after his thirteenth birthday on 16 January 1905 from injuries sustained when the delivery wagon he was driving was hit by a train in Mt. Vernon, Rockcastle County. Tommy was buried in Ramsey-Taylor Cemetery in Renfro Valley, Rockcastle County. He was the son of Josiah Love Taylor and Mary Alice Kirby. (*1C2R, Taylor)

62 Years Ago: Sarah Howard Brock died 16 January 1958 in Wallins, Harlan County, Kentucky. She was buried in Old Creech Cemetery at Wallins. Sarah was the daughter of John Covey Howard and Mary F. Morris and the widow of Elijah Brock. (*2nd Great-aunt, Hopkins)

108 Years Ago: Eliza Hopkins Simpson died 16 January 1912 in Epps, Butler County, Missouri. She was buried in Sparkman Cemetery in Butler County. Eliza was the daughter of Stephen Hopkins, Jr. and Rachel McFarland and the wife of Ephram Simpson. (2nd Great-grandmother, Hopkins)

120 Years Ago: John Cook Taylor married Emma Jane Owens 16 January 1900 in Freedom, Rockcastle County, Kentucky. John was the son of James Francis Taylor and Margaret E. Ramsey. Emma Jane was the daughter of Madison Crawford Owens and Cecilia Owens. (*Great-grandparents, Taylor)

January 17

46 Years Ago: John Curtis Marion died 17 January 1974 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. He was buried in Devine Evergreen Cemetery, Devine, Medina County, Texas. John was the son of James Washington Marion and Louise Anna Lanier. (*1C1R, McCauley)
