Feature: Robert Burke Taylor

150 Years Ago and 72 Years Ago: Robert Burke Taylor was born on 14 August 1870 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky to James Francis Taylor and Margaret E. Ramsey.1Kentucky Division of Vital Statistics, death certificate 17459 (1948), Robert Burk Taylor; digital image, “Kentucky, Death Records, 1852–1965,” Ancestry.com (www.ancestry.com : accessed 24 Mar 2009). Bob lived in the family home on what is now Old US 25, which runs parallel to US 25 south of I-75.  He never married.2Family stories told by Faye Hopkins McCauley. Bob was her great-uncle. Bob died three days before his 78th birthday on 11 August 1948. He was buried in the Ramsey-Taylor Cemetery near his home, where his parents and most of his siblings were buried.3Kentucky death certificate 17459 (1948), Robert Burk Taylor.

87 Years Ago: Howard Doctor Hopkins married Mary Locke on 10 August 1933 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. Doc was the son of James Arton Hopkins and Lucinda Howard. (*Great-uncle, Hopkins)

28 Years Ago: Elizabeth Lois Lanier Glover Garmon died on 11 August 1992 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. She was buried in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville, Jefferson County, Alabama. Elizabeth was the daughter of James Dewey Lanier and Afrie Lumarel Strickland. 85 Years Ago: Lois Marie McCauley married George Estil Dockins on 11 August 1925 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. Lois was the daughter of John William McCauley and Verda Waller Hankins. (*Aunt, McCauley)

164 Years Ago: William Thomas Taylor was born on 11 August 1856 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. He was the son of James Francis Taylor and Margaret E. Ramsey. (*2nd Great-uncle, Taylor)
