Photo: Uncle Milt Echols’ House

January 30, 2020

This is the house where James Milton and Mary Thomas Echols lived in Forsyth County, Georgia. Mary was the sister of my 2nd great-grandmother Margaret Thomas Petty. Margaret died 28 July 1876 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.1 After her death, six of Margaret and John R. Petty’s nine children went to live with Mary and her family.2 Mary married James Milton Echols 16 January 1845 in Forsyth County.3

This picture, labeled “Uncle Milt Echols’ House,” is from the collection of Helen Hankins Morgan. Helen was the granddaughter of Margaret’s daughter Samantha Petty Hankins.
