Mary Madore Hankins was the fourth and last child born to Albert Elvie Hankins and Isabella Jane Goodloe.11870 U.S. census, Hopkins Co., KY, population schedule, Precinct #2, p. 20A, dwelling 19, family 19, Jane Hankins; digital image, Ancestry (https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/7163 : accessed 14 Feb 2010); from NARA microfilm M593, roll 471. She was born on 10 March 1863 in Hopkins County, Kentucky, and was called Mollie.2Grapevine Cemetery (Grapevine, Hopkins Co., KY), Clements, Henry and Mollie marker, photographed by Linda McCauley, 30 Oct 2004. Albert died when Mollie and her siblings were young children.3Family story, passed down through the family from Albert’s granddaughter, Aggie Ann Hankins (daughter James W. Hankins), is that Albert was found with a friend in a barn in the company of Confederate deserters, was accused of desertion, and shot.
Mollie married Henry Thomas Clements on 8 December 1885 at her Uncle Thomas H. Goodloe’s home in Hopkins County. Mollie and Henry lived in Hopkins County for the rest of their lives. They had one child, a daughter named Zadie Ann. Mollie died on 7 February 1939 at their home, which was a mile and a half west of Earlington on Dawson Springs Road. A paralytic stroke caused her death.
