Documenting the Details

Five Years of Blogging and a New Year!

December 31, 2014

Five years ago I started this blog. Well, not exactly this blog and not exactly five year ago. Documenting the Details started out on 27 Dec 2009 on a different platform with a different URL. 2014 was a transition year. After thinking about a change for months, I switched from Blogger to a self-hosted WordPress site — not the best decision when I didn’t have much time for blogging.

Without re-reading my post from a year ago, I’m pretty sure it says something about neglecting the blog in 2013 and planning to do better in 2014. That didn’t happen. The neglect was worse than ever in 2014, but the great thing about a blog is that it’s still here. Even when I’m busy with other things, it’s patiently waiting for me to start writing again, and people continue to email me about connections found in old posts.

Will 2015 see a more consistent return to blogging? I hope so. Time for working on genealogy was limited in 2014, but my plans for 2015 include research, research, and research. If that works out, blog posts should follow.

Happy New Year.

Congrats on 5 years, Linda. I think we can all relate to the ebb and flow of blogging. Looking forward to reading about your research in 2015!
