Way back on January 1, I had a plan to publish biographies for ancestral couples and their children throughout the year. That hasn’t gone quit like I planned. I did publish stories for my great-grandparents Lee and Samantha Petty Hankins and their children in March. And now the next family—Samantha’s parents and siblings—is finally ready.
John R. Petty married Margaret E. Thomas on 20 September 1857 in Whitfield County, Georgia. They lived in McMinn County, Tennessee, and Logan and Hopkins counties in Kentucky and had ten children. Margaret died in 1876 of complications from the birth of their last child who also died. The youngest six children went to Forsyth County, Georgia to live—one with a Tribble family and the other five with Margaret’s sister. John R. returned to Whitfield County and married Mary Bohannan there on 26 April 1878. They had one son.
Read the stories of John R., Margaret, their children and John R.’s son with Mary starting here. From John R. and Margaret’s page, use the sub-menu to move to each of the children. A 32-page PDF is also available to download if you prefer reading from print or would like a copy to keep.
Next up will be Lee Hankins’s parents, Albert Elvie and Isabella Jane Goodloe Hankins. Hopefully, it won’t take another seven months to get those stories ready.
