Orie Columbus Hopkins, called Lum, was the son of James Arton Hopkins and Lucinda Howard. They named him for his uncle (Jim’s brother), William Columbus Hopkins, who also went by Lum. Several people have added this picture to William Columbus in their online trees, but this is the younger Lum.

Howard “Doc” Hopkins was a musician and recording artist in the 1930s and 40s performing on the WLS (Chicago) National Barn Dance and WJJD (Chicago) Suppertime Frolic. He recorded for American Record Corporation and Decca.  Doc was the son of James Arton Hopkins & Lucinda Howard. He was my great-uncle.
